Repeat this 4 more times to get this Achievement. As soon as you destroyed the car you will be destroyer and survivor at the same time as there are no other players around. Now focus on destroying the car of the friend. Go into arena deathmach and select one minute for playtime. Start online multiplayer and start a privat session with one friend. FlatOut 4® Total Insanityis now available for on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One console at retail locations in North and South America for 49.99. ![]() You need to survive longer than every other player on the field without getting destroyed. To become destroyer you need to destroy the most players while not be destroyed. Or at least we think you’d have to be totally insane to want to pay that much for it.You need to be both, survivor (health symbol) and destroyer (fist-symbol) at the same time in an arena deathmatch. It’s especially absurd as a full price game. The same can be said for some of the mini-games, such as the ones where you try to send your driver crashing out the windscreen for as far as possible.īut while we’re sure a lack of time and budget is at the root of its problems, FlatOut 4 is so technically flawed, with its low tech graphics and uneven frame rate, that it’s impossible to recommend. It’s still half-broken and extremely limited but even if you’re laughing at it, instead of with it, you are at least being entertained. There are also a couple of modes inspired by the old Destruction Derby games on the original PlayStation, and this is where FlatOut 4 comes closest to redeeming itself. At least it’s better than Assault mode though, which tragically tries to be Mario Kart with more explosive weapons – but is so impossibly random it’s virtually unplayable. It’s good that FlatOut 4 packs a bespoke, same-screen multiplayer stunt mode because if any mode is going to claim even the temporary attention of groups of rowdy revheads and Rocket League. The career mode is predictably uninteresting, given the artificial intelligence, but unfortunately that’s what you have to play to access all the locked content. Most objects, including cars, feel like they’re filled with nothing but hot air, as they tumble about on the ground like lost balloons or suddenly launch into the air as if the laws of gravity have forgotten all about them.įlatOut 4 (PS4) – at least it’s not as bad as the last oneįlatOut 4 boasts of 10 different game modes, and to its credit they’re all quite different. In theory this all sounds great, but while the questionable handling might not be too much of an issue the terrible physics engine is. These involve all the usual Career completion objects like finishing every cup with a gold. Naturally, rival cars are equally susceptible to damage, although they at least have a health bar for you to deplete before they explode into flames. The Xbox One version of FlatOut 4 features 45 Achievements worth a total of 1,000 Gamerscore. This is also present and correct in FlatOut 4, with everything from walls and fences to suspiciously placed explosive barrels becoming nothing but fodder for your car’s front grill. What made FlatOut different from other games is that you were able to destroy almost everything on the track, with a level of destructible scenery that would shame even Battlefield. That at least is something this sequel manages to replicate without issue. Despite how fun the original games were the actual handling model was never particularly good, and always felt a bit loose and woolly.
